Swim Lessons

Caleb finished his first set of swim lessons a few weeks ago. There was a groupon for 4 "baby and me" swim lessons at the Corpus Christi Swim School. A friend and I decided to buy them and let our kids try out swim lessons. Caleb loved it! This child is such a fish. He loved being in the water and everything swim lesson incorporated. There was no fear for this little man which is exactly what Nathan and I were hoping for since we love the water so much.

Visitors

We recently had some visitors and it was so much fun! It was a great weekend and it went by really fast. Unfortunately I didn't take very many pictures.

Chace, Rivka and their kids flew in on Wed, which also happened to be Chace's birthday so after picking them up from San Antonio and putting the little ones down for bed we celebrated with some cupcakes and blue bell ice cream.

Thursday we headed over to the Texas State Aquarium. It was spring break for ALL of Texas so the aquarium was packed with people. It was still fun and the kids even got to enjoy the splash park for a little bit.

Friday we went to the new water park Hurricane Alley and it was sooooo cold!
Saturday we headed down to the beach. The usual 20-30 minute drive to the beach ended up taking well over an hour because of spring break. Luckily once we got down to Port Aransas we found a nice little spot free from college and high school "spring breakers."

Sunday we headed up to San Antonio. We went on the river boat tour, stopped by the Alamo, and then had dinner at a really great place with a back patio that sat right at the edge of a playground. It was really great because we enjoyed our dinner why the kids ran and played and had a great time together.
Monday we went to SeaWorld. We had such a great time watching the shows, riding the rides, playing on the playground, and just hanging out. This was our first time at the park and it will not be our last (we bought season passes).

After SeaWorld we dropped Chace and Rivka off at the airport and they flew back to Washington. It was so sad to see them go and I know Caleb was so lonely in the backseat now that his partners in crime were gone. We had such a great time and our so glad they came! I can't say enough how much we love having visitors.

Texas State Aquarium

One of the really great things about the winter is the aquarium is empty. It is great in the summer but it is so full of tourist that sometimes it is hard to take little kids. yesterday I took Caleb, Ethan and Caleb's friend Benson. It was so great, they just ran around and played for several hours. Because no one was there non of the workers seemed to mind that Caleb and Benson just ran around the whole place, in fact several of the workers played games with them and pulled animals from exhibits and really gave us the VIP treatment.

solids

Ethan is now almost 6 months and he recently has been getting hungry between the usual 4 hour feedings so I thought it would be a good time to introduce solid food. When Caleb was 4 months I started him on solids and from day 1 he was a believer. He took right to it and never looked back. Ethan on the other hand acts as if it is nothing but absolute torture to eat some sweet potatoes or bananas. I have been trying every night for the last two weeks and he still gets frustrated or ends up crying before we are done with 2 ounces. But we have made progress and that is what counts and besides we all know I am so in love with this sweet little boy that I tend to let him off pretty easy.

a playroom for Caleb

A few months ago I decided to create a playroom. We had previously used this room for a guestroom/office but decided that we don't get enough visitors to give them their own room in our little house. So I put the bed in the garage and moved a few things around (we didn't actually do any decorating because I am not sure how long this will stay as a playroom) and now Caleb has a playroom. It has been such a life savor for me! I love not having toys all over my living room and he loves having his own space to go wild in. The best part is when people come over I just shut the playroom door and they think my house is clean.
