A couple of weekends ago I took a few pictures of the kids. We need to have new family pictures taken but I haven't found a photographer I love as much as Ruth who isn't crazy expensive. So for the meantime a few pictures of the kids by me here and there will have to do.

Happy Birthday Caleb!

Caleb turned 5 today! Saturday we had a pretty great birthday party for him. I decided the kids would get big parties at 5, 8, 12 and 16. This way the kids would get some fun big parties but I wouldn't be scrambling to plan and pay for them every year with every kid. Overall this party was a success. The kids loved the water slide, sno cones, food and atmosphere.

Camp bandage

Last weekend we attended camp bandage. It was a local event where all different types of people from the community came and set up booths to celebrate safety. The kids had a great time.

Basic Graduation

Last week I took the kids up to Missouri with my Dad. We went to see James graduate from Basic training. It was a hard trip, 3 kids in a hotel room isn't my favorite thing but I am really glad we went. The graduation ceremony gives you a small glimpse into what these guys go through and what it takes to not only complete this program but live this life and it's no small sacrifice. We were able to spend two days hanging out with James and then they shipped him of to AIT (advanced individual training) where he will receive training on becoming a medic. We are really excited and proud of him. We can't wait to see what the future holds.

Tulsa zoo

Ethan's preschool group had a zoo field trip on Thursday. Against my better judgement I let Caleb skip school and come with us. His behavior was terrible and I was frustrated but we still had a great time.

This sweet girl turned 2 this week. It's really hard for me to accept that she is growing up. She has been such a sweet and fun little baby. Although I will admit these last few weeks a more intense, dramatic and unhappy side has started to emerge. It's a tad scary. Things have been busy around here so we had a really low key birthday. We ate chicken nuggets and mashed potatoes (Molly's favorite) and some nutella cupcakes. She only had one present to open. It was a Doc Mcstuffins check up center and it has been a hit with all the kids. I really did have a little more planned but I ended up getting a bad migraine in the morning and since that knocks me out for several hours (it's hard to do much when you can't see and are sitting over a toilet puking) Nathan ended up just coming home and taking the kids to the children's museum instead. Hopefully next year we can do more and I am grateful she is so young she didn't even notice we didn't celebrate.

Here "cheese" face. We can't get her to smile with her eyes open for the life of us, which is unfortunate because she has beautiful blue eyes.

Growing up

Our sweet miss Molly is growing up. A few weeks ago I finally finished painting her bed (I actually ran out of paint and need to do some touch ups) and dresser so we could move her out of the pack n play. The boys were moved into real beds at 1 but for some reason I'm having a much harder time letting Molly grow up so I have been procrastinating the move. But we did it and she loves her big girl bed and has no problem staying in it.

photo shoot #3

The mom of these cute girls came to me a few weeks ago asking if we could swap services and I would photograph her girls. She is helping me with some projects so I took her girls out Saturday and took a few pictures. It's always fun for me to practice and try out a few new things. For Christmas I got a new lens and this was my first time using it. Although there is always room for improvement I am pretty happy with how these turned out.

cows

One of the things we love about this house is the  acres and acres of cattle ranches that surround us. Our backyard backs right up to all these cows. The kids, especially Molly love to sit at the fence and watch the cows. I try not think about how small the fence in between them really is, and how large the cows really are. It's our own little piece of country right in the city, minus the mess and work of country. It's perfect.

more pictures...

After my first shot at some family pictures a couple more people have asked me if I would be willing to take some of their families. I don't mind at all because I love the practice and I have so much to learn with photography and editing and it gives me a chance to learn. These are a few from last weeks session. This is one of our favorite families here in Oklahoma.
