This girl had her first hair cut and she rocked it. She sat still the entire time.

Surgey

Last Thursday I had surgery to remove my tonsils, fix my deviated septum, reduce my turbinates and balloon pump an airway through some cells. It was pretty extensive and I was warned several times by the doctor and past patients that it would be a hard recovery. And it has been. I have struggled with my throat and sinuses for a long time but it just never seemed like a good time. Finally a couple months ago Nathan pushed me to do it and although I'm still so miserable I can't say I'm happy yet, I'm sure I will be in a few months. Everything went really well, except the post op bc the try to push you out the door before you can even walk. I hear that's typical though so I guess I was getting the normal treatment. Anyways here is to many wonderful years of being able to breathe and enjoy the outdoors and hopefully no more years stuck at urgent care trying to get steroids for strep.

photography class

A few weeks ago I finally took a photography class. I have had a DSLR camera for awhile now but have had no idea how to use it other then shooting on auto. So I finally enrolled in a class with a friend and learned how to shoot on manual. Now I have a LONG way to go before I am any sort of pro but it has been really fun. I am finally not afraid of my camera, and well that is a pretty good feeling. Here are a few of the pictures I took for my class assignments.

New York City

A few weekends ago I met up with some friends in New York City. This was my first time to the city and although I loved and enjoyed it, it reminded me of why I love living in Oklahoma so much.
I flew out of OK with Ginger and Mary and then met up with 3 friends from Corpus Christi and one from Virginia. It was so fun to see our Texas friends, oh how I have missed them so much.
We had a great time together. We stayed in radio city apartments right by Times Square and then packed all 4 days in with activities. We bought purses in the back rooms in china town, ate street food, took tours of the city, rode bikes in Central Park, visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island, ate at famous restaurants, went shopping, navigated our way on the subway, went to a Broadway and toured the 9/11 museum and memorial.
I didn't take a ton of pictures because I was so busy soaking in the wonders of the city. It's a crazy place and full of unexpected experiences around every corner.
It was an awesome trip and I can't wait until we have another girls "reunion" trip.

Corpus Christi

The first week in September we took a last minute trip to Corpus Christi. We were really excited to see some friends we had missed and to get in some beach time. On the way down we stopped at Magnolia Market and Harp design co in Waco. If you watch fixer upper on HGTV you know why this stop was a must. While in corpus we went to the beach, hurricane alley and of course our favorite restaurant Vietnam. All in all we had a great time and can't wait for our next visit.

We had a wonderful week full of Halloween celebrations with lots of candy, costume changes and parties.
Here are (in no particular order) a few pictures from our week of celebration.

Country living

I guess country living means finding snakes in your little boys upstairs bedroom.

Family night

We have been trying really hard to be more consistent with our family nights. We are not always successful and they frequently end in tears but we keep the lessons short and the treats a plenty so overall it's been great.

joy school

When Caleb started preschool Ethan was beyond distraught that he didn't get to go. To help ease the sadness of Caleb being gone every day I joined a local joy school group. There are 7 students and we rotate hosting a preschool like class for the kids once a week. We also have added in a field trip one Wednesday a month.
This month we went to the fire station. The kids had a really great time. The firemen and paramedics were so patient with the kids on a crazy and busy day for themselves.
Overall joy school has been a success.

Ethan

He can fall asleep anywhere... It's a skill I would like to have.

Omaha

This week Ginger and I (with our kids) drove to Omaha to visit an old college roommate. We had never been to Omaha before and we were pleasantly surprised. It was such a fun place.

Our first stop was the zoo. It was awesome. I have been to lots of zoos but this is probably one of the best. The indoor exhibits were phenomenal. We spent 5 hours there and didn't see nearly everything. Unfortunately Caleb started feeling sick while at the zoo and the rest of the trip kind of went downhill from there.

The next day we went to the most amazing pumpkin patch. It was full of carnival games, haunted houses, pumpkins, racing pigs and so much more. The down side was I had been up puking all night, the night before and was still sick. So chasing 3 kids around was exhausting and hard. But we had a good time anyways. That night Ethan got sick and was up all night puking. Luckily we drove home the next day and nobody puked the entire drive.

Overall it was a good trip and fun to see an old college friend and her family.
